Echinacea purpurea is a flowering plant that is native to North America. The root of the plant has been used for centuries in traditional medicine to treat a variety of conditions.
Echinacea is most well-known for its potential to support the immune system. Traditionally, it's been used to help the body fight off infections.Native Americans use echinacea to treat coughs, colds, and sore throats. It is believed to soothe irritated mucous membranes and ease respiratory discomfort.
Some tribes used echinacea root poultices to treat wounds, burns, and skin infections. It is known to have antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties.Echinacea is sometimes used to relieve pain, including toothaches and headaches. In some Native American traditions, echinacea was used as a remedy for snakebites.
Today, echinacea purpurea root is most commonly used to prevent or treat the common cold and other upper respiratory infections.

Directions for Tea:
Pour 8 oz boiling water over 1/2 tsp. of root.
Cover, steep 20-30 minutes.
